Standout Seniors of Prayer

Prayer in Action is something our Theology teacher and Service Coordinator, Mr. Tom Gallagher reminds our student body.  Benedictine’s Hallmark of Prayer ~ First of all, every time you begin a good work, you must pray to God most earnestly to bring it to perfection…Let us open our eyes to the light that comes from God, and our ears to the voice from heaven that every day calls out this charge:  If you hear his voice today, do not harden your hearts (Ps. 94:8)   Rule of St. Benedict Prologue: 4-10

Our students will participate in at least 10 hours of service each year followed by a Senior Service Project involving at least 20 hours of service.  Most of our students have upwards of 100 hours after their four years!
Here are a few senior standouts who represent Benedictine and the spirituality of St. Benedict.

Phillip Arrington volunteered his service at South Euclid United Church of Christ. At SEUCC, they have a program called the BIN food pantry where they give groceries and other items to impoverished families residing in South Euclid, Lyndhurst, Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland and Richmond Heights each month. The “BIN” is actually an acronym which expresses the church’s desire to “ bless, inspire, and nurture” the hungry  Check out Phillip’s presentation!

Kyle Francisco volunteered his service at Youth Challenge Sports in Cleveland.  Youth Challenge brings together young people with physical disabilities and teen volunteers who inspire each other through adapted sports, recreation and social growth activities.  Check out Kyle’s presentation!

Tom Jakubowski volunteered his service at Jesuit Trail at Jesuit Retreat House.  Inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, rooted in the spirituality of St. Ignatius, Jesuit Retreat House provides a sacred setting for outreach, retreats and programs of growth and development for people in the contemporary Church and society.
