Memorial Day ~ Remember Those Who Sacrificed

“I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” — Nathan Hale

A Prayer for Deployed Soldiers

Heavenly Father,
inspire those who are overseas for the cause of peace.
Send your Son, Jesus Christ, as the Prince of Peace.
Bless the men and women of our military
who respond to the needs of peacekeeping.
Keep them safe from harm.
Let them be models of discipline and courage,
and bring them home safely to their loved ones.
We ask this in your name.

Prayer for Memorial Day

God of power and mercy,
you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,
that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters.
Keep in your mercy those men and women
who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely
into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord.

If you know of any Benedictine alumnus serving in our Armed Forces, please email their name, year of graduation and branch of service, and we will keep him in our prayers this Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day and at our school masses.  God bless you for preserving the Benedictine Hallmarks in our world!
